IVAC was one of the leaders in tympanic thermometers, thermometers that looked at the tympanic membrane. The existing product was bulky and nurses wanted a design that was easier to use and would give them more consistent readings. By researching the market, we found that reducing the bulk around the head of the unit was a key area. We also sculpted the body to be easier to hold in the hand reducing fatigue at the end of a long day.
